Getting there & parking
Walk Harbor Island’s shoreline path for clean skyline views, where you can take advantage of a free on-site surface lot with about 100 spaces, open from early morning until 10:30 p.m. Alternatively, explore the Embarcadero along downtown’s waterfront. Downtown parking can be difficult; while some free and metered street parking is available around Waterfront Park, two paid parking garages also open on weekends, holidays, and after 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, so allow extra time to park and scout.
What to bring
Be sure to bring your camera along with a few extra lenses to capture the sweeping skyline views across the water. A light, wind-resistant jacket is highly recommended, as the breeze coming off the waterfront can get quite cool once the sun begins to set. You will also want to pack plenty of water and a few of your favorite snacks to keep you energized while you explore the shoreline path. Finally, if you plan on staying past dusk to catch the blue hour, a reliable flashlight or headlamp is essential for safely walking back to your car along the unlit sections of the trail.
